Why Can’t the Cold Plunge Chiller Unit Reach 0℃?

by | Sep 15, 2024 | BLOG

Cold plunge chillers often present daily challenges for us chiller enthusiasts. We often receive questions from our customers and today we want to address one of the most common questions: Why can’t the chiller reach zero degrees? And other details about the daily use of chillers.

What is the Optimal Temperature Range for a Cold Plunge?

The best temperature range for a cold water bath is 10-15 degrees Celsius (50-60 degrees Fahrenheit). 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) is the freezing point of fresh water. This temperature will cause ice to accumulate in the equipment and pipes, so the chiller cannot reach 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).

Even if we attempt to force the temperature to 0℃ by adjusting the sensor of the Cold Plunge Chiller Unit, it will result in the water flow being blocked due to ice formation, which can ultimately cause damage to the chiller.

Therefore, many experts recommend that the temperature range between 50°F (10°C) and 60°F (15°C) is the best temperature range to get the most benefits of a cold water bath. This range provides a refreshing shock to the system, but it is not too stimulating. Listen to your body and find the right temperature for your body.

If the temperature is too cold, it may cause discomfort or harm your body. The freezing point of water must be within a reasonable range, and any temperature below this range is considered an extreme temperature. Staying within the correct temperature range is not only good for your health, but also important for your safety. The purpose of a cold water bath is to relax and heal the body, not to harm it.

How do Environmental Factors Affect the Cooling Effect?

Environmental conditions are important factors that affect the cooling effect of the cold plunge chiller unit. Ambient temperature, humidity, air quality, etc. will directly affect the operating effect of the chiller.

Ambient temperature that is too high or too low will affect the performance of the cold plunge chiller unit. When the ambient temperature is too high, the cooling effect will decrease because the cooling medium is not easy to dissipate heat at high temperatures.

In a high temperature environment, the parts of the refrigeration equipment are prone to wear due to excessive work, and their performance and life will also be affected. If the chiller is used in a high temperature environment for a long time, the evaporator, compressor and other parts may fail regularly, thereby shortening the service life of the equipment.

An increase in humidity will also lead to a decrease in the cooling effect of the cold plunge chiller unit, because excessive humidity will cause condensation on the surface of the chiller, affecting the heat dissipation effect of the unit. In addition, pollutants in the environment may also affect the heat dissipation effect of the condenser and reduce the cooling effect of the cold plunge chiller unit.

What Should I Look for in a Cold Plunge Chiller Unit ?

First of all, look for the compressor power, as this determines whether the water is cold enough. Our cold plunge chillers compressor of power is 1.3HP. (Power enought, mostly other supplier’s chiller are less than 1HP). Then look for if there is a protection system, without a protection system, there may be safety risks.

Our cold plunge chillers have a water and electricity separation system and a UL-approved leakage protection plug, as well as overheating and overload protection. The power supply system has a MOV lightning protection function.

While buying a lower-cost chiller may seem like a good option, the cost of replacing parts or the entire unit is high. In the long run, it is wise to choose a good quality product if you want to get the most out of it. Looking for an easy-to-use touch control, the built-in WiFi feature is also a good option for those who want to quickly set up an ice bath from a distance.

Our cold plunge chillers come with that can connect to WiFi, has a separate ice bath APP and can be remotely controlled. Responsive digital touch control system. It can be booked and turned on in advance, which can save your time.

The LCD touch sliding screen provides sensitive control. The control panel, which has a simple and stylish appearance design, is composed of a screen and a black frame. The control panel provides English text and small icons, which are a combination of graphics and text. This makes it easy to understand the function of each option, providing convenience when operating the control panel. The page clearly shows the current temperature and the temperature setting.

Why do Cold Plunge Chillers Perform Better?

Cold plunge chillers are advanced, efficient systems for cooling large amounts of water in a short period of time. Cold plunge water chillers offer a convenient and hassle-free solution for chilling needs. With cold plunge chillers, there is no need to spend time and effort buying ice or dealing with melting ice.

Our WiFi-enabled chillers have an LCD touch screen with sensitive controls that allow precise temperature regulation. They are easy to operate and have a timing switch for energy saving. You can set the internal parameters and time to personalise your cold water soaking experience.

Our ice bath chillers have a cooling power of 350-500 litres and can reduce the temperature by an average of 5 degrees per hour. Water is constantly circulated in the plunge pool — it is pumped out, cooled by the chiller and then pumped back in. Sitting in circulating water removes heat from the body faster. Cold plunge chillers typically offer higher cooling capacities than traditional ice, making them ideal for industries that require precise and rapid chilling.

The cold plunge chiller is designed to cool water quickly, allowing you to quickly enjoy the benefits of a cold water soak.Cold plunge chillers require some maintenance in terms of cleaning filters and ensuring proper operation. Maintenance Tips for Daily Use to Optimize Chiller Performance

Numerous studies have shown that regular maintenance can extend the life of your equipment, and cold plunge chillers are no exception. The most common chiller failures are caused by compressor, electrical, or motor problems.

  • Check whether the various valves are normal.
  • Check the refrigerant and deal with the leak in time.
  • Check for abnormal sound, vibration and high temperature.
  • Check the temperature and pressure of the condenser and cooler.
  • Check the refrigeration system for the presence of air, if there is air should be discharged.
  • Check the setting value of the safety protection device of the refrigeration equipment.
  • Turn the cold plunge pump shaft to observe whether there is any obstruction, collision or jamming. If it is a bearing problem, add lubricating oil to the bearing or replace the bearing. If it is a water pump impeller problem, the water pump should be dismantled and repaired. Check whether the mechanical seal is leaking. If so, replace it.
  • Check for leakage. If yes, pressurize the packing. Check whether the valve opens and closes flexibly. If the resistance is large, add lubricating oil to the valve stem. If the valve is broken or fails to open and close, replace it with a valve of the same specification.
  • Check whether the flange connection is leaking. If yes, replace the sealing gasket.
